Dealer Locator, Live Inventory

This article explains how to add the Quivers Dealer Locator Live Inventory widget to your product pages, so shoppers can see which nearby authorized Retailers carry an item and whether it’s in stock, on any ecommerce platform.

In This Article

Overview

The Dealer Locator Live Inventory widget brings your dealer network onto your own product detail pages (PDPs). Instead of sending shoppers to a separate store-locator page, the widget shows a list of nearby authorized Retailers for the specific product being viewed — along with each Retailer’s live stock position, address, phone number, and website.

The widget is powered by HoverCart running in HoverCart Lite mode, which hides the standard HoverCart Ribbon so only the widget appears on your page. It works on any ecommerce platform or custom website that lets you add custom HTML and JavaScript to your site’s <head> and product page template.

Setup has two parts: a one-time Standard Configuration in Quivers and on your site that’s the same for every platform, followed by a short set of Platform-Specific instructions for where to paste the code in your ecommerce platform’s theme or template.

How Retailers are chosen for the list

  • Retailers appear for a product based on your Claiming Policies and Claiming Regions — any Retailer authorized for that product through an active Claiming Policy with the In-Store Pickup fulfillment method is eligible.
  • Both claimed Retailers (those with their own Quivers account) and unclaimed Retailers (dealer records you’ve imported) can appear.
  • By default, inventory doesn’t decide whether a Retailer appears — it decides what stock status they show. If you’d rather only list Retailers with a matching inventory record, turn on the optional setting in Step 4 of Standard Configuration.

Note: Quivers’ platform term for a Retailer is Fulfiller. You’ll see “Fulfiller” in some HoverCart settings and screens (for example, “Choose Your Fulfiller”) — it refers to the same Retailers described in this article.

Note: This widget is separate from the Dealer Locator map you may host on a standalone page. The map shows your full dealer network by location; this widget shows the Retailers relevant to one product, directly on that product’s page. You can use either or both. For more information, visit our Dealer Locator knowledge base article.

What Shoppers See

When a shopper clicks the widget on a product page, a Fulfillment Options dialog opens showing nearby eligible Retailers. Each Retailer listing includes the business address, phone number, and — when it’s on file — a website link, so shoppers can check the dealer’s own site or buy directly from them. Each listing also shows one of the following statuses:

Status

What It Means

In stock

The Retailer has a current inventory record for this item, so the shopper can see it’s available now.

Out of Stock

The Retailer has an inventory record for this item, but no units are currently available.

Contact for Availability

The Retailer is authorized for this product but has no inventory record for it — for example, an unclaimed Retailer you’ve imported. The shopper is prompted to reach out to the Retailer directly.

Firearms License Unverified

Shown only on license-required (FFL) products, for Retailers whose firearms license isn’t on file in Quivers. The listing is visible but disabled. See Firearms & Other License-Required Products.

Best Practice: The Retailer details in each listing come from that Retailer’s business profile in Quivers. Encourage connected Retailers to keep their address, phone number, and website current in their Retailer Panel settings — an out-of-date listing costs both of you a sale.

Before You Start

Confirm the following are in place before starting setup:

Requirement

Details

HoverCart Storefront

An active HoverCart Storefront with retailer inventory enabled and the In-Store Pickup fulfillment method selected. Visit Marketplaces and Storefronts for information on how to set up your storefront.

Marketplace ID

Your Storefront’s unique Marketplace ID. It’s built into the HoverCart script you’ll copy in Step 1.

Products assigned

Each product you want the widget on must be assigned to the HoverCart Storefront, with In-Store Pickup enabled through an active Claiming Policy and Retailers assigned to a Claiming Region.

Product identifier alignment

The product identifier you place in the widget (see Step 6) must match a product in your Quivers catalog. Your Quivers onboarding team can confirm the mapping.

Access to edit your site

You need access to your site’s global <head> and your product page template — through your platform’s theme editor, CMS, or source code.

Note: The widget uses In-Store Pickup fulfillment options to find eligible Retailers for a product — that’s why In-Store Pickup must be enabled even if you aren’t taking online orders through the widget.

Standard Configuration (All Platforms)

Complete these steps in order. They’re the same no matter which ecommerce platform you use — only Steps 5 and 6 (where you paste the code) differ by platform, and Platform-Specific Setup below covers those details.

Copy Your HoverCart Script

1. Open your HoverCart Storefront

In the Quivers Admin Panel, go to Storefront → HoverCart and copy your Storefront’s unique HoverCart script. It looks like this, with your Marketplace ID in place of the placeholder:

<script

type="text/javascript"

src="https://hovercart.quivers.com/?Marketplace={YOUR_MARKETPLACE_ID}"

async="true">

</script>

Whitelist Your Domain

2. Add your store’s domain to the Storefront

The HoverCart script won’t load on a domain Quivers doesn’t recognize. Go to Admin Panel → Sales Channels → Storefronts → [Storefront] → Domains → + Add and add the domain where the widget will run (for example, *.mydomain.com).

Note: If you test on a staging or preview domain before going live, whitelist that domain too — otherwise the widget won’t load there.

Enable HoverCart Lite

3. Switch the Storefront to HoverCart Lite mode

HoverCart Lite hides the traditional HoverCart Ribbon, which is used for other HoverCart experiences and isn’t needed for this widget.

  1. Navigate to Storefront → Preview.
  2. Log into the HoverCart Ribbon that appears on the page.
  3. Go to Settings (gear icon) → Simple Settings → HoverCart Lite → Apply.
  4. To reach additional settings, such as Custom CSS, scroll down and switch from Basic to Advanced settings.

Limit Retailers to Matching Inventory (Optional)

4. Decide whether Retailers without inventory should appear

By default, every Retailer authorized for a product can appear in the widget — those without an inventory record for the item show as Contact for Availability. If you’d rather only list Retailers that have a matching inventory record for the product, turn on Limit “Choose Your Fulfiller” by Matching Inventory in HoverCart Settings under Catalog → Global.

Note: If this setting is on and your Retailers don’t yet have inventory records for your products, the widget won’t list any Retailers at all. Leave it off until Retailer inventory is loaded, or if you want unclaimed dealers to appear as Contact for Availability.

Add the Script to Your Site’s <head>

5. Paste the HoverCart script into your global <head>

Add the script from Step 1 to the <head> of every page on your site, or at minimum every product detail page. Paste it just before the closing </head> tag and save.

  • Ecommerce platform: use your platform’s theme code editor or script injection tool to add code to the global <head>. See Platform-Specific Setup for exact locations.
  • CMS (WordPress, Webflow, etc.): use your theme’s header injection feature or “custom code in head” setting.
  • Custom or static site: add it directly inside the <head> tag of your HTML template.

Add the Widget to Your Product Pages

6. Place the widget element in your product page template

On your product detail page template, add the following element where you want the widget to appear, replacing {PRODUCT_ID} with the identifier of the product being viewed:

<div data-widget="{PRODUCT_ID}"></div>

The data-widget value tells HoverCart which product to look up Retailers and inventory for. It accepts any of these identifiers, as long as it matches a product assigned to your HoverCart Storefront:

  • Product ID — the product’s ID in Quivers
  • Product RefId — the reference ID from your ecommerce platform (for synced catalogs)
  • SKU

Most platforms let you insert the current product’s identifier dynamically with a template variable, so one snippet works across every product page. Platform-Specific Setup lists the variable to use.

Best Practice: The widget doesn’t include an option selector (size, color, and so on), so it shows Retailers for exactly the product you point it at. If your products have variants, point the widget at the specific variant’s unique SKU or UPC so shoppers see results for the right one.

Where to place it: the most common placement is directly above the Add to Cart button. Make sure the element sits inside the product template and not inside a conditional block that might hide it.

Verify the Widget

7. Test on your live site

  1. Open a product page on your site for a product assigned to your HoverCart Storefront.
  2. Confirm the widget renders where you placed it.
  3. Click the widget and check that the Retailers listed are relevant to that product.
  4. Repeat on at least two different product pages to confirm the product identifier is changing correctly from page to page.

Note: HoverCart caches product data for up to 180 minutes, so Quivers configuration changes (Claiming Policies, Claiming Regions, Retailer fulfillment settings) may not show right away. To see changes immediately, go to Storefront → Preview → HoverCart Settings → Advanced → General and click Refresh.

If the widget doesn’t appear or doesn’t list the Retailers you expect, see Troubleshooting below.

Customizing the Widget

Custom CSS

Style the widget to match your brand in HoverCart Settings → Advanced → Custom CSS. Our team can also collaborate with you on custom styling — email support@quivers.com.

Placement and multiple widgets

The widget element can be moved anywhere in your product page layout, and you can place more than one on a single page if needed. Directly above the Add to Cart button remains the recommended spot.

Firearms & Other License-Required Products

If your catalog includes products marked FFL Required, the widget handles Retailer eligibility differently for those products:

  • Retailers whose firearms license is on file in Quivers appear as usual.
  • Retailers without a verified license on file — including many imported, unclaimed dealers — still appear in the list, but are disabled and marked with a Firearms License Unverified badge. They’re shown regardless of stock status.
  • The badge appears only on FFL Required products. It never appears on non-FFL products.

Note: FFL Required products can only use the Reserve Online, Buy In Store (ROBIS) fulfillment method. If you set up the widget for these products using In-Store Pickup (BOPIS), update the Claiming Policy for those products to ROBIS.

Best Practice: Make sure every firearm product in your catalog is marked FFL Required. This is what keeps license-required items from being purchasable through non-licensed channels.

If your widget is display-only (shoppers aren’t purchasing through it), you can ask support@quivers.com about adjusting or hiding the badge with Custom CSS.

Platform-Specific Setup

Use this section alongside Steps 5 and 6 of Standard Configuration. It covers where your platform keeps its global <head> and product template, and which template variable outputs the current product’s identifier.

Shopify

1. Add the HoverCart script to theme.liquid

  1. Go to Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes → Actions → Edit Code.
  2. Open layout/theme.liquid.
  3. Paste the HoverCart script inside the <head> section, before the closing </head> tag.
  4. Save the file.

2. Add the widget to your product template

Shopify uses Liquid variables to inject product information into templates. Use the product’s Shopify ID in the widget element so it maps to the correct Quivers product automatically:

<div data-widget=""></div>

Your product page template is typically one of the following files:

  • templates/product.liquid
  • sections/product-template.liquid
  • sections/main-product.liquid (common in Online Store 2.0 themes)

Locate the Add to Cart button in the template and paste the element just before it. Keep it outside any conditional block that may hide it, then save.

3. Verify

Follow Step 7 of Standard Configuration on your live Shopify storefront, testing at least two product pages to confirm the product ID mapping.

BigCommerce

Coming Soon: Step-by-step BigCommerce instructions — including where to add the script and which template variable outputs the product identifier — are coming soon. In the meantime, follow Standard Configuration using BigCommerce’s Script Manager or theme editor, and contact support@quivers.com to confirm the product identifier mapping.

WooCommerce

Coming Soon: Step-by-step WooCommerce instructions are coming soon. In the meantime, follow Standard Configuration using your theme’s header injection or template editor, and contact support@quivers.com to confirm the product identifier mapping.

Magento 2

Coming Soon: Step-by-step Magento 2 instructions are coming soon. In the meantime, follow Standard Configuration using your theme’s layout and template files, and contact support@quivers.com to confirm the product identifier mapping.

Custom Sites & Other Platforms

The widget works on any site where you can add custom HTML and JavaScript. Add the HoverCart script to your global <head> (Step 5), then add the widget element to your product page template (Step 6) using whatever template tag or variable your platform provides for the current product’s ID or SKU. If your platform can’t output an identifier dynamically, contact support@quivers.com before going live.

Troubleshooting

What You’re Seeing

What to Check

The widget doesn’t appear at all

View your page source and search for hovercart.quivers.com to confirm the script is present. Confirm the domain is whitelisted on the Storefront (Step 2). Inspect the page to confirm the widget element is present and not inside a hidden conditional block.

“The product you’re trying to reach either doesn’t exist, or is currently unavailable for purchase.”

The identifier in data-widget doesn’t match a product on the Storefront. Confirm the Product ID, RefId, or SKU is correct, the product hasn’t been deleted, and it’s included in the Storefront’s template.

“This product is not available for purchase under any fulfillment method.”

Check for duplicate copies of the product in your catalog — if the wrong duplicate is in the Storefront template, it won’t have the correct fulfillment setup. Also confirm the product’s Claiming Policy includes In-Store Pickup (or ROBIS for FFL products) and that Retailers are assigned to a Claiming Region.

The widget loads but lists no Retailers

If Limit “Choose Your Fulfiller” by Matching Inventory is on, Retailers without inventory records are hidden (Step 4). Otherwise, confirm Retailers are authorized for the product through an active Claiming Policy and Claiming Region.

Retailers shown are for the wrong variant

Point the widget at the specific variant’s unique SKU or UPC rather than a parent product.

Recent Quivers changes aren’t showing

HoverCart caches product data for up to 180 minutes. Refresh it from Storefront → Preview → HoverCart Settings → Advanced → General → Refresh.

Retailers show a Firearms License Unverified badge

Expected for FFL Required products when a Retailer’s license isn’t on file. See Firearms & Other License-Required Products.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dealer Locator Live Inventory?

It’s a widget on your product detail pages that shows shoppers which nearby authorized Retailers carry the product they’re viewing, with each Retailer’s stock status, address, phone number, and website.

Which ecommerce platforms does it work with?

Any platform or custom site that lets you add custom HTML and JavaScript to your global <head> and product page template. Shopify instructions are included above; BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and Magento 2 instructions are coming soon, and Standard Configuration works on all of them in the meantime.

Do shoppers check out through the widget?

Not in a standard Dealer Locator Live Inventory setup. The widget helps shoppers find a local Retailer who has the product, then visit, call, or go to that Retailer’s website to buy.

Why do I need In-Store Pickup enabled if shoppers aren’t buying through the widget?

The widget uses In-Store Pickup fulfillment options to determine which Retailers are eligible for a product. Without it, no Retailers can be listed.

How does Quivers decide which Retailers appear?

Retailers authorized for the product through an active Claiming Policy and Claiming Region are eligible, whether they’re claimed or unclaimed. If you’ve turned on Limit “Choose Your Fulfiller” by Matching Inventory, only Retailers with a matching inventory record appear.

Do my Retailers need their own Quivers account to appear?

No. Unclaimed Retailers you’ve imported can appear too. Without an inventory record for the item, they show as Contact for Availability.

What does “Contact for Availability” mean?

The Retailer is authorized for the product but doesn’t have an inventory record for it in Quivers, so the shopper is prompted to contact the Retailer directly to check stock.

Can I hide Retailers who don’t have the product in stock?

You can hide Retailers who have no matching inventory record by turning on Limit “Choose Your Fulfiller” by Matching Inventory under HoverCart Settings → Catalog → Global. Leave it off until your Retailers’ inventory is loaded, or the widget won’t list anyone.

Where does the Retailer information in each listing come from?

From each Retailer’s business profile in Quivers. Connected Retailers can update their address, phone number, and website from their Retailer Panel settings.

What should I put in the data-widget attribute?

The identifier of the product being viewed — its Quivers Product ID, Product RefId, or SKU. Use your platform’s template variable so the value changes automatically on each product page.

My products have variants — how do I make sure shoppers see the right results?

The widget doesn’t include an option selector, so point it at the specific variant’s unique SKU or UPC rather than a parent product.

Where should I place the widget, and can I use more than one?

Directly above the Add to Cart button is recommended, but you can move it anywhere in your product template. You can also place more than one widget on a page.

Does the HoverCart Ribbon show on my site?

No. Turning on HoverCart Lite hides the Ribbon, so only the widget appears.

Can I style the widget to match my brand?

Yes. Add Custom CSS under HoverCart Settings → Advanced → Custom CSS. Our team can also collaborate with you on styling — email support@quivers.com.

Why isn’t the widget showing up on my product pages?

The most common causes are the script missing from your <head>, the domain not being whitelisted on your Storefront, or the widget element being inside a conditional block. See Troubleshooting for the full checklist.

Why does the widget say a product is “not available for purchase under any fulfillment method”?

Most often, a duplicate copy of the product is in your Storefront template without the correct fulfillment setup. Clean up duplicates in your catalog and confirm the product’s Claiming Policy includes In-Store Pickup (or ROBIS for FFL products).

I changed a Claiming Policy but the widget hasn’t updated — why?

HoverCart caches product data for up to 180 minutes. Refresh it immediately from Storefront → Preview → HoverCart Settings → Advanced → General → Refresh.

Why are some Retailers grayed out with a Firearms License Unverified badge?

On FFL Required products, Retailers whose firearms license isn’t on file in Quivers are shown but disabled. The badge never appears on non-FFL products.

Which fulfillment method should I use for FFL Required products?

ROBIS (Reserve Online, Buy In Store). FFL Required products can’t use In-Store Pickup (BOPIS), so update the Claiming Policy for those products if needed.

Is this the same as my Dealer Locator map?

No. The Dealer Locator map shows your full dealer network on a standalone page. This widget shows the Retailers relevant to one product, directly on that product’s page. You can use either or both.
