Product Variant Details Panel
Product Variants are the combinations of Product Options and their Values to group products together that are the same. For example, a clothing company may sell t-shirts. Their t-shirts come in three sizes: small, medium, and large; plus two colors: black and green. The Product Variant table in a Product Details page allows you to create these variations directly in your admin panel.
To update this within your panel, navigate to "Products" in the left-hand rail of your admin panel, then double click on the product to open the Product Listing. From there, scroll down to the bottom of the page to the "Product Variants" table. Here you will see two buttons:
Add Option
If your product comes in different sizes, colors, or various other options, you will need to Add an Option to a product and then populate the options the product includes. For more information on adding options, view Adding Product Options.
Add Variant
A product must have at least 1 product variant to be valid. If your product has options, it may have multiple variants. To add more variants to your product, select Add Variant. A new row will be created which can have a unique name, SKU, GTIN, UPC, RefId, Coming Soon, and pricing values.
Within each product is a product variant table which stores the unique details for the single or multiple options for a product. Those rows of information are referred to as variants. Let's have a look at the Product Variant table:
Default Product Variants
Name - The name for your product as you want your customers to see it.
Add Image - Images added here will represent the different product variants for a specific product. For example, if you are selling a long sleeve shirt and it comes in grey and black, you can add an image here to specifically represent the grey color (or the color which the variant is representing).
Description - A brief description for your product. This can also be used for anticipated ship date notice or other significant product information.
Identifiers:
-
- SKU - The stock keeping unit for a variant. This can be different for each variant row.
- GTIN - The global trade item number for the variant. If you sell purely domestic, your products may not have GTINs.
- UPC - The universal product code for your variant.
RefId - The RefId column is optional and may not need to be populated. This can be used for additional reference to a variant like a color code, ERP number, etc.
Scroll towards the right to find more options including pricing and special pricing for your products. You can enter start and end dates for your special pricing to show an item's discounted amount for a certain period of time.
Coming Soon - If a variant is set to coming soon "On", the variant will display as not currently available for purchase, but coming soon. If coming soon is set to Off, the variant will actively be available for purchase if not listed as out of stock in the warehouse. For more information on marking products out of stock instead of as coming soon, view settings products as out of stock.
Standard - Any price type which has been created will be represented as a column within the product variant table. A price type is associated to a Marketplace when it is first created. Once a price type is added, it will be available in all products within the catalog. Enter a name for the price type and select the currency.
Wholesale - By default, Standard and Wholesale will be created on Quivers as price types when your products are first created.
